MASERU: Lesotho Cricket Association is geared towards increasing numbers of cricketers in the country.
Lekoatsa Chaka Development Officer of LCA told our web that they have been mandated by the International Association to make sure that they elevate figures of people playing cricket.

Chaka said 2023 strategic plan of International body stipulates that Africa should have groomed two million players.
“Therefore as part of Africa we are mandated to increase cricket players in order to reach that two million”, said the Development Officer.
He showed that as a result LCA has organized a two day course for the facilitators from April, 19 to 20 2018.
He said it is the first time they host such course in Lesotho which attracted 19 boys and girls from Mohale’s hoek, Maseru, Berea, Leribe and Butha Buthe.
“This is a special course of its kind held in this country”, narrated the Development Officer.
Participants are playing for different clubs in their respective districts.
“After the course the participants would be expected to visit different school and coach learners how to play cricket”, concluded Chaka.
One of the participants from Leribe, Hlotse Mpho Nelson Mohakala said he has been playing cricket for 11 years.
He said he is playing for Bills Cricket Club which is based in Maseru.
“I started cricket while I was doing standard seven, currently I am playing for Bills Cricket Club”, said Mohakala.
Mohakala said he is passionate about cricket because is a disciplined sport.
“Discipline in cricket is key and it needs focus”, explained the participant.
He showed that if one plays cricket well even in real life he would be highly disciplined.
Mohakala showed that after the training he would like to work with the youth.
He said it would not be the first time to coach a team. He had a team sometime back and the same team worn gold medal in one of the competitions in the country.
He indicated that with the skills he acquired from the course he would be able to contribute in the development of cricket in the country.
