Canadian Theatre Family on the move

Canadian Theatre Family has scheduled poems and dramas competition to be hosted by Mahlabatheng High School.

This youth focused event will take place on September 1, 2018; it’s named Comradeship Awards 2018. According to the president of the theatre family the aim is to bring youth together.

“Youth display their talents and avoid criminal activities at all costs”, said Mr Toka Ralikhomo.

Ralikhomo said the youth will showcase poems and dramas in this event. The participants come from Mohale’shoek, Tšakholo, Matikoe , Ramaqhanyane , Mabathoana, and Mazenod High Schools.

They will also attract Botho University and clubs from the communities of Berea, Mazenod and Maseru.

The event will start at 09:00 hours and expected to end at 05:00 hours. The theme of that competition is “Life is a Process”.

Clubs will include, One Love Family, U.Y.T.U.C, Oneness Theatre, Ambition Theatre, Reality Theatre, Flammable Empire, E.T.T, Permanent Eagle Theatre, T.Y.T.C, Marabele Club and Litau Theatre Club.

Ralikhomo said the registration of the event is M60 and ends on August 15. The money could be send through M-pesa number 56861523. School will pay on arrival at the completion.

He further indicated that performers would be expected to contribute M5 each.

“There would be two trophies and certificates for the first and second positions”, said the President.

He said the trophy should be won twice and after that it would kept forever.

“It is therefore mandatory that the winner attend the next event in March next year at the venue to be decided later”, endorsed Ralikhomo.

Rakhomo said the winners will include the following categories and the winner takes his or her prize home. They are: best actor/actress, poet/poetess, rookies, best director or best play.

The prizes would be gold, silver and bronze medals.

The Canadian Theatre Family President showed that last year the competition took place at Masianokeng High School on August, 26. The winner was Mazenod club from Ha Ngoatonyane named One Love.

United Youth Theater (U.Y.T) from Berea snatched the second position.
