High schools clash – Softball

Lesotho Baseball and Softball Association hosts softball extravaganza for high schools league next weekend.

The league started in June and expected to end in August.

“First round was played in June, while second round will be on August 11”, said Lesotho Baseball and softball Association vice president Mr Refiloe Dichaba.

He said teams are divided into five regions namely, North, North Central, Central, South Central and South.

North is comprised of Sacred Heart, Molapo and Hlotse high schools. Central include Lesotho, Assumption, Lioli and Pukane. South Central comprise of St Barnabas and Moshoeshoe II, while South consist of Masitise, St Stephens and St John.

Dichaba showed that the purpose of the games is development of young players.

He said it is very crucial that players start at the tender age.

They want to supply tertiaries with players in future.

He said they are aiming to host under 19 games for both boys and girls in baseball and softball in future, date will be confirmed later.

In the meantime, women senior team has been invited by South African softball association.

These games will take place at North West Province on August 11 and 12.

The purpose of this game according to Dichaba is to celebrate the women month.
