The Lesotho national football team showcase with Cape Verde for AFCON qualifiers on September 9, 2018 at Setsoto stadium.
Four Lesotho international players are in our midst as we speak. As a result, Likuena is well prepared for this endevour.
According to National Teams Coordinator under the auspices of Lesotho Football Association (LEFA) Mr Seepheephe “Mochini” Matete said players in question are from Black Leopards namely Tumelo ‘Makhopo’ Khutlang, Lesiamo Matsoso, and Tšoarelo Bereng.
The fourth one is Masoabi Nkoto who plays for the King FC at NFD in RSA.
Matete indicated that Matsoso and Bereng’s deals with Black Leopards have been finalized. Hence, they would be seen in the field.
Matete said Likuena is ready because they engaged themselves in satisfactory preparations.
“As part of preparation Likuena had friendly games with Bloemfontein Celtic and Likuena lost two nil (2-0). That was the only match which was lost by Likuena”, said Mochini.
He said from there Likuena beat Matlama 1-0, Lioli 4-0, Eswatini 1-0 and 2-0 respectively.
Matete told our reporter that home advantage would play a major role to motivate players.
But Matete explained that Cape Verde is a big fish and highly experienced team. It also ranks far from Lesotho side as far as FIFA and CAF rankings are concerned.
It is believed that Setsoto stadium will be in its full capacity. The way football lovers attended Likuena friendly games showed that they are behind the team.
