A first half resistance from Majantja Football Club was not enough because they defeated 3 – 0 in the second half on Saturday at Setsoto stadium.

Bantu Football Club scored late in the second half on LNIG Top 8 competition. Matli Boitelo, the Majantja FC goalkeeper seemed to have thought the referee had seen an infringement after saving a shot at goal, hence dropped the ball towards his opponent who tapped the ball in.

Majantja FC coach Mr Letsatsi Damane said,

“The goalkeeper lacked concentration. His stunt killed the entire team’s morale after performing well for much of the game. But he is still young, maybe he is used to playing in the B – Division.”

Damane was content with the first half as the players implemented his tactics well but was unhappy with the second half. He however voiced that Majantja FC will look to improve in attacking in the second leg when they host Bantu FC.

Bantu FC coach Mr James Madidilane, appreciated the win but was not pleased with the overall team performance questioning their professionalism.

Madidilane gave a chance to few new faces to start the game but they failed to deliver, hence substituted Tumelo Maine and other player.

He refuted claims that he brought in such changes because he lacked respect to his opponents.

“This was a worst Bantu FC game in the whole season. We were disorganised, it was a below par performance. My team’s standard of play today did not match that of CAF Champions league games.

“There is a huge difference in performance comparing the weekend game to the previous midweek encounter against Kick4Life FC notwithstanding a fact that we won 3 – 0”, said Mr Madidilane.

Mr Damane revealed problems overshadowing his team. Money is his biggest challenge as a coach of Majantja FC as they cannot train together and work on his tactics better because his players live far from the training camp.

“We only meet on Thursdays and Fridays for training sessions. Majantja FC could not sign players because of money related issues. We promote from A and B Divisions.

“Today’s goalkeeper, Matli is an example, he’s from B Division. Lastly, we do not have a natural striker and have injured senior players like Lelia Jeremane”, concluded Damane.
