Lesotho Defence Force Football Club defeated Lioli Football Club at Setsoto Stadium last Saturday by two goals to one (2-1), in Econet Premier League title.
The game did not have that great impact in its early minutes due to the high temperatures that were experienced. The game started at one o’clock, in the afternoon.
In the 12th minute, Thabo Mongali opened the scoring with a brilliant header from the cross that was left hand side to put LDF in the lead. LDF continued to dominate the game, but Lioli regrouped and came back into the game.
The game continued to play and its tempo increased a bit as Lioli was searching for the equalizer. On the 40th minute, Lebona Malebanye of LDF used his hand to stop the ball from going to his post.
The referee blew his whistle and pointed it on a penalty spot and Diotlwileng Molefe converted the penalty to give Lioli the equalizer from that spot kick. The game went to the halftime break with 1-1 draw.
The game came back from the halftime break with and continued the way it started. In the 63rd minute LDF made three substitutes at the same time. The substitutes changed the complexion of the game completely.
The goal scorer Mongali, Poulo Moloi and Tšeliso Phera came out. Thabang Rabi, Tšepo Toloane and Moshoeshoe Letlatsa were brought in from the bench.
On the 74th minute Lioli made a substitute, Molefe was replaced by Lekhanya Lekhanya. On the 77th minute Lioli Ts`oanelo Koetle was substituted by Retšelisitsoe Moepi.
On the 80th minute Toloane was fouled in the box of Lioli and the referee did not hesitate to point it on a penalty spot. Toloane gave LDF the lead in that remaining ten minutes of the game from that penalty shootout. The game ended LDF 2-1 Lioli.
