Both coaches, Mr Charles Manda of Matlama FC and Mr Motebang Makhetha from Swallows FC marked their debuts of the Econet Premier League for their respective clubs.

Makhetha speaking after his club’s terrible defeat to Matlama FC stated that football game is a process and it will take time to build a good team as there are few experienced players in his team.

He conceded that it was very unfortunate that the players did not get part of the tactics right in the game, but he did not expect his team to play that way. The team failed to defend the set pieces and everything went south from there.

The team was punished on three similar and consecutive instances. So this shows that it has to be tactically switched up in the next games.

“So we are going back to the drawing board and put more effort than we applied in today’s game. We even failed to complete five passes”; said Makhetha.

He further showed that the players were shut down psychologically hence physically they did not act right and this cost them the game. But the most disappointing part of this game was losing by this margin (6-0).

“But I must say I am proud of some parts of the tactics the team got right, and that will help us to build on something from that leading to the following fixture. We will accept the results and go and work harder to change the results in the next game. We send our apologies to the Swallows fans for such a bad result despite a fact that they showed in big numbers”, Said the Swallows coach.

Manda specified that he told his players to come to the party. He further explained that his boys trained very hard for this game after a very disappointing pre-season.

They lost 2-0 home and away in the Confederations of African Football Champions League, but it was evident that they had improved and stamped their authority. He singled out to his players that they needed to score a lot of goals in order to defend the league title.

He praised his striker Mokoena Khoanyane for his exploits after coming off the bench to score a brace, saying he has a good future ahead of him should he continue to play that well.

He explained that Matlama FC would stay focused, taking it game by game. He said it is still early for predicting Tse Putsoa as title favorites.

Swallows FC is a very good team playing in the same division as Matlama FC, and had their chances but failed to convert them, but Tse Putsoa did hence were just unlucky.
