Lesotho Sports and Recreation Commission public relations officer Mr Teboho Rakhomo officially opened Youth Under 16 Team Chess Championship at Blue Mountain Inn hotel, Berea, Lesotho on November 23, 2019.
The President Mr Tšeliso Motloheloa and Secretary General Mr Moshe Mokone of Chess Federation of Lesotho were present and all gave very powerful speeches as they welcomed all countries who have come to compete in the 2019 Zone 4.5 Youth Under 16 Team Chess Championship.
“There are few changes in the schedule of the event. Due to circumstances beyond the control of CFL, only three countries have come to the Mountain Kingdom. These are; Malawi, Botswana and Eswatini”, said CFL PRO Mr Selatela Khiba.
Khiba said each of them brought one team and having the total of six teams present as CFL has sent three teams.
“We and the African Chess Confederation resorted to making the tournament a round-robin format which makes it five rounds to be played”, continued PRO.
