International Police Association Central Region hosted a successful meeting at officer’s mess in Maseru last Friday.
The aim of the meeting was to deliberate on the trip to Port Elizabeth (PE) in South Africa. This endevour was supposed to kick off early December this year.
According to interim committee member Ms ‘Mantšali Tšolo members agreed to scratch out the trip. This was due to the fact that members did not make it to pay for this activity.
The reason being that now it is the festive season; therefore, it would not be possible to cater for the trip.
“At this time of the year people take care of other errands with the little finances they possess. Therefore, they cannot afford to pay for the trip”, said Tšolo.
When asked about the development of Central Region, she told our reporter that statistics of the members are increasing. But in the same token the Arthur Troop spirit is tremendously depreciating.
“IPA was established by Troop to bring together the members of the global police organizations”, she said.
Tšolo indicated that the formation of Police headquarters region contributed a lot because they were members of Central Region initially.
She further alluded that IPA National Executive Committee instructed Central Region to dissolve their committee and formed the interim one.
Therefore, they had to work very hard within the limited time to prepare for the PE trip. Then it was not possible for many members to pay.
“In order to bring back Arthur Troop spirit many meetings should be organized. In these meetings members would be reminded about the purpose of IPA, which is the service through friendship.
“Again, NEC should organize trips for all IPA members in the country so that oneness would be revived”, Tšolo concluded.
The meeting submitted a proposal that they should be engage on a tour to Mokhotlong for three days in early December this year.
As usual the after the meeting members got together until late. Entertainment of IPA members promotes friendship and stress free situation since their normal work is so strain full at all times.
