Three Basotho athletes have shown dominance in the main race of 42.2km of Lesotho High Altitude Summer Marathon (LHASM) 2019, which began in the morning hours at Mafolaneng and finished at Pitso Ground, Makhotlong on last Sunday.
Lebenya Nkoka, Lehlohonolo Raletebele and Teboho Noosi led the race from the arting point to the end.
Nkoka won this race with 02:31:21 time while Raletebele grabbed runner up after he completed the race in 02:32:30 with just 13 seconds separating him to Noosi who finished in third position with 02:32:43 time.
After the race Nkoka revealed to Lesotho Sports Blizz that the secret which led him to be a champion was that he advised himself to ran as much as he can irrespective of whether he win or not.
“I was able to win this race because my target was to run as much as I can, regardless of whether I will become victorious or be fatigued on the way.
“I said to myself if I get tired on the way, I will board the vehicle, but then I got exhausted and I overcame that fatigue,” he continues.
“I am very excited to be the winner of this race. It is a very huge race and it means a lot to win it.”
Meanwhile, the third position winner, who was also the defending champion of the race, Teboho Noosi said he failed to make it to the first spot because he did not have much time to gear himself up, as he participated in lot of competition before this one (LHASM).
He however praised his performance by saying that securing a third position in LHASM is not easy and thus he considers himself performed well.
However, this publication’s effort to get Raletebele’s comments over his victory went fruitless.
