Cricket is one of the sporting codes which are growing in Lesotho.
This was said by Lesotho Cricket Association (LCA) President Mr Sebajoa Sebajoa in an exclusive interview in Maseru.
Sebajoa said his association has embarked on a campaign to establish five hubs in four districts in Lesotho.
LCA has been conducting meetings with the stakeholders since the 15th to 17th January, 2020.
The purpose of the meetings was to engage stakeholders in this big programme of its own kind.
Two hubs would be in Maseru at Lesotho high school and Maseru Private Academy School at Ha Thetsane area, one at Leribe high school and Berea Thakaneng, while the fifth will be based in Mohale’shoek in the Southern part of Lesotho.
This initiative comes after the visit of delegation of ICC Africa and Cricket South Africa late last year. According to Sebajoa the delegation encouraged LCA to establish hubs for the improvement of cricket in the mountain Kingdom and Africa region.
The LCA development officer Mr Lekoatsa Chaka said hubs would be manned by qualified personnel.
Technical teams which will be responsible for the hubs include cricket facilitators, hub coaches, programme officers, coordinators and development officer who will be an overseer of the programme.
When the hubs are in use they would be expected to be a pilot project for the rest of African countries.
