Likuena is scheduled to prepare for back to back AFCON qualifier matches against Benin in March this year.
From there the team will face Nigeria on away game in June and home match with Sierra Leon in August/September. The finals of AFCON arranged to kick off in Cameroon by January/February 2021.
The Lesotho Football Association secretary general Mr Mokhosi Mohapi told the journalists in the press conference at LeFA headquarters Bambatha Tsita Sports Arena in Maseru that the finals were supposed to take place in June/July this year.
But due to the climate conditions which attract too much rain the dates of games had to be changed by CAF.
Likuena head coach Mr Thabo Senong disclosed preparations which begin next week. He emphasized that they have four matches to play.
” Nigeria is leading our group, Benin second with three points, Lesotho third with one point and Sierra Leon fourth position with one point also”, said Senong.
“We are playing with tough teams therefore we have to work hard”.
The head coach further showed that it was not easy to select a provisional team of 29 players. He indicated that Likuena will train in the morning and allow players to go to their teams in the afternoon.
“Camp starts on March 15 and two friendly games, one with premier league club and one NFD club in South Africa.
He confirmed that there are two players with injuries in the squad, but they want to bring them closer for the medical team to monitor and support them.
“We select players based on their form at the moment, character and training behaviors with their clubs”, continues Senong.
Senong further showed that he communicates with their coaches and watch matches.
The national team will include two or three talented players from under 20 national team.
