Following increased speculation related to the status of Kick4Life FC for the coming season, we are pleased to confirm that Kick4Life men’s team will remain in the Premier League.
In July this year we announced that we would become the first top flight club in the world to commit to equal gender budgets. This was a commitment that we made fully recognising that it would create increased financial pressures for our men’s team in the short term.
However, as an organisation committed to social change and to gender equality, we believed that it was a vital step, to challenge stigma related to the role of women in society and, we hope, to drive change in the wider football industry.
In light of this move, and combined with financial pressures related to the impact if COVID-19, we have explored a number of options for the coming season and have decided to commit to competing in the Premier League, with a strong focus on youth development.
We remain committed to using football as a vehicle for social change in Lesotho, with the football club an important part of our wider mission to promote good health and gender equality, and to provide education and employment opportunities for young Basotho.
We are currently seeking new sponsors for the upcoming season, and would be delighted to hear from any companies, aligned with our values, who would like to work with us to make the 2020/21 season a success for both our men’s and women’s teams.
