Lesotho Football Association issued a statement concerning the host of Sierra Leone in Lesotho.
The gratitude portrayed after the zero draw (0-0) AFCON encounter against Leon Stars at Setsoto Stadium on 27 March, 2021.
This was the end of the road for AFCON qualifiers for the Lesotho side.
The Lesotho Football Association President Advocate Salemane Phafane (KC) and the Executive Committee, would like to express their gratitude to the Minister of Gender, Youth, Sports and Recreation Honourable Likeleli Tampane and her Ministry for the support given to LeFA in the hosting of the Sierra Leone delegation since their arrival in the country.
Hosting of an international match under prevailing Covid-19 conditions comes with a lot of stress, but LeFA working with the Ministry were able to deliver a successful event, said the statement.
Our gratitude also goes to the management of Lesotho Television and the whole media fraternity, who were able to give live coverage of the match using their different platforms, which proved a success on the day as Basotho were able to watch the match on their television screens in big numbers.
This was for the third time in a row in the last six months that LeFA was able to team up with LTV to give Basotho a live broadcast of a match, which is a milestone on it’s own, the statement continued.
We were disappointed on the day that our team failed to take the three points, but happy with the progress the team continues to make as far as competing against other countries in the continent is concerned. We will surely get it right soon.
Congratulations also to the Secretary General and his Secretariat for delivering yet another successful event under these stressful Covid-19 conditions.
A big thank you as well to all our security agencies for providing us with security for both the teams, our dignitaries and the event itself, concluded the message of gratitude.
