The Lesotho football authority issued a strong statement against Director of Corruption and Economic Offences (DCEO) treatment to the LeFA structures.
The statement runs as follow:
The Lesotho Football Association has learned with dismay and surprise of the news that DCEO, whom it’s mandate does not extend to elections of societies, earlier today raided the offices of District Football Association Leribe requesting for registration list, financial statements and the ballot papers of the recent DIFA elections, but in the end only took a receipt book.
LeFA appeals to state institutions to refrain from being used in football politics because the raiding of the DIFA Leribe offices comes just a few days after two contests in the recent DIFA Leribe elections wrote to the association calling for results of those elections to be nullified.
LeFA further warns those behind this shenanigan that it risks a FIFA ban from international football as the football governing body strongly objects interference from government in football matters.
