Lesotho’s hero at the recently ended Africa Cup of Nations Souru Phats’oane’s return to the Mountain Kingdom after officiating the final between Senegal and Egypt on Sunday has been delayed by an appointment to officiate this Friday’s CAF Champions League between Mamelodi Sundowns against Al Hilal of Sudan.
Phats’oane along with the South Africa duo of Victor Gomes and Zakhele Siwela became the first referees from Southern Africa to officiate the final of the prestigious continental showpiece held in Cameroon.
He made his Afcon debut in 2017, where he officiated until the round of 16. His other achievements include officiating the CAF Super Cup and Confederations Cup finals in 2020 and 2021 respectively.
He also officiated at the FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Egypt and Brazil in 2017 and 2019 respectively.
