Tsepang Sefali, Rethabile Mokokoane and Katleho Makateng were all handed their first starts for Likuena in a competitive match by coach Veselin Jelusic in the 2023 preliminary round first leg match against Seychelles on Wednesday.
Mokokoane: “I could tell from training that the coach has plans to have me in the starting lineup and I prepared myself mentally for it. I didn’t have any stage fright, but was delighted to finally win my first cap for my country,” the 24-year old utility player said.
Sefali: “It was an amazing experience to be honest. I had goosebumps after the starting lineup was announced to us at the hotel, but it got better as we arrived at the venue. I think I did fairly well, but there is always a room for improvement,” the Bantu attacking midfielder said.
Makateng, who is the youngest of the trio at 23-years said: ” Looking at all the big names in the squad especially those that I compete with, I never so myself in the starting lineup and it came as a surprise. It was a dream come true for me to win my first cap for the national team. I think I did very well and also had a few attempts at goal and it will surely get better with more time.”
