This then followed numerous calls on the Government of Lesotho to attend to repairs and refurbishment of Setsoto Stadium. All these requests fell on deaf ears over the years until Setsoto Stadium was banned.
Over two years ago, Setsoto Stadium was banned from hosting official international matches by the continent’s football governing body (CAF).
In response to a request for an update on the status of the repairs, if any on the National Stadium, the Lesotho Sports and Recreation Commission (LSRC) has since responded informing the football mother body (LeFA), “the status of Setsoto Stadium has not changed. All the concerns CAF raised have not yet been attended to.”
In their letter of January 26, 2023, the LSRC indicated that the government of Lesotho does not have money to refurbish and improve the status of Setsoto Stadium as required by CAF.
In light of the above, the football fraternity and football lovers, are at this moment reminded that the National team, Likuena, will be forced to continue playing all its home games in a foreign land in South Africa.
